The MBA Open Day was packed with enthusiasm for new challenges
On Friday, March 21st, we hosted an Open Day for prospective students of the MBA programs we offer at the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics. The event was well-attended by potential participants as well as lecturers who were ready to answer their questions during the panel discussion and subsequent informal networking.
Prospective students for the MBA programs in Data & Analytics for Business Management and IT Management & Business Transformation gathered in the evening at the Quattro Modulare classroom. Light refreshments and a sparkling toast to welcome new challenges were prepared. The official program commenced with a panel discussion, which was held in English due to the participation of international guests.
At the start of the discussion, Ota Novotny, the Academic Director of the data MBA, highlighted the three main values on which our MBA programs are built: sixty expert lecturers with whom participants will meet in each program, the community whose building we support through face-to-face teaching and further meetings, and career and personal transformation as a result of the study. He emphasized that our teaching provides a safe space for individual conversations with experts, and sometimes a five-minute discussion can yield more than an hour spent in passive learning.
The floor was also given to Milan Nidl, the Academic Director of the IT MBA, who talked about his extensive experience in senior IT management positions. These experiences led him to decide to contribute to creating an MBA program for future IT leaders.
Ota Novotný then interviewed the panelists – Marian Kamenistak, Pavel Moravec, Pavel Zimmermann, and Martin Potančok took their seats representing the lecturers. Questions were primarily directed towards their motivation to participate in teaching the MBA and the contribution of their expertise to the students. Karel Firley, one of the first admitted to the IT MBA program, joined them too. He shared his own process of selecting a management study program with his potential classmates.
After the discussion ended, we provided space for questions from the attendees, which quickly turned into energetic clusters of lecturers and their potential students. They discussed not only organizational matters related to studying for an MBA at VŠE but especially individual life and career situations and needs for further development. It is precisely the pronounced individual approach that we emphasize both in studying and in selecting suitable candidates. The content of the study then has a truly practical application benefit, and each participant is a valuable member of our growing community.
Thank you to everyone who came. The whole event was literally packed with a taste for new steps in life. If you are also toying with this desire but could not make it, contact our coordinator Karolina. We would be happy to arrange an individual meeting with you. The first round of registrations for the admission interviews ends on April 30th.
