“If you don’t invest in learning, your best people will leave,” Marian Kamenistak warned companies at our last meetup
Entitled “From Busy to Better: Make Space for Learning While Delivering”, the meetup, organized in cooperation with the Engineering Leaders Community, brought together nearly 100 participants from both the ELC network and our MBA community. They all arrived at the University of Economics and Business to hear the answer to a single important question: How can we make learning a real part of work—even when things get busy?
The event featured lightning talks from three experienced speakers:
- Marian Kamenistak (Engineering Leaders Community)
- Tomas Cejka (STRV)
- Lukas Putna (Heureka Group)
They shared real-world stories and practical lessons about what works—and what doesn’t—when trying to build a learning culture inside fast-moving companies. Topics included:
- How to integrate learning into your team’s everyday work.
- Learning paths that actually stick and deliver results.
- Ways to protect learning time without hurting delivery.
The discussion highlighted a central tension many companies face: balancing constant delivery pressure with long-term team growth. The speakers showed that while this balance isn’t easy, it’s absolutely achievable—with the right mindset, leadership, and support structures.
As our very own Ota Novotny shared in his closing remarks, motivated people don’t just need opportunities—they need the space and encouragement to grow. That’s where structured education, such as our MBA programs, comes in. We’re here for those who want to step up, see the bigger picture, and sharpen their thinking with others who feel the same.
Thanks to the Engineering Leaders Community for yet another great collaboration. We look forward to more shared steps in creating space for future leaders to grow.
